Frias Staff Spotlight: Lisa Jennings, Group Sales Manager

Lisa Jennings moved to Aspen in 2008 after being offered a job at the Ritz-Carlton Club following her graduation from Hospitality Management school in Virginia. Originally from Richmond, Va., Lisa joined Frias Properties in 2012 as the company’s Group Sales Manager. In her pivotal role at Frias, Lisa assists all types of groups with planning the perfect Aspen getaway. Her clientele include destination wedding groups, family reunions, business retreats, and of course, ski trips. A lover of all things outdoors, you can usually find Lisa on the mountain –  hiking, camping or skiing – or catching the latest concert at Belly Up Aspen. This week we sit down with Lisa to get her take on Aspen and what not to miss while you’re in town.

Q: Do you live in Aspen or downvalley?

A: “Aspen.”

Q: What’s the best thing about Aspen?

A: “The sense of community you feel living here and ability to walk everywhere.”

Q: Do you prefer the summer or winter season?

A: “Come for the winter, stay for the summer!”

Q: What’s the one thing I should make time for during a summer visit to Aspen?

A: “Visit Maroon Bells.”

Q: What summer activities do you enjoy?

A: “Hiking, yoga, camping, floating the river and going to concerts.”

Q: What’s one thing that I should not miss while I’m in Aspen?

A: “The Belly Up Aspen.”

Q: If your parents were coming to town, where would you recommend they stay?

A: “They love the Independence Square for the convenience and great views from the rooftop deck.”

A: “The Chateau Roaring Fork condos have balconies overlooking the river.”

Q: If a group of your friends were coming to town, where would you recommend they stay?

A: “If they aren’t my ski-bum friends sleeping on my couch, Frias Properties has lodging choices in all categories and different sizes.”

Q: Do you ski or snowboard?

A: “Ski.”

Q: Where is your favorite place to ski?

A: “Lift 1A because it’s right out my back door!”

Q: What’s one thing I should make time for during a winter visit?

A: “A ski day with visit to Cloud 9.”

Q: What other winter activities do you like?

A: “Après-ski.”

Q: Where’s a good place to grab an après-ski beer or drink?

A: “The Red Onion is a great local spot, or 39 Degrees at the Sky Hotel for people watching.”

Q: What’s your favorite restaurant in Aspen?

A: “White House Tavern.”

Q: Where’s a good place to grab a snack?

A: “Peach’s Corner Cafe.”

Q: What local shopping should I do while in Aspen?

A: “Pitkin County Dry Goods is my favorite.”
